Executive Message Colorado Bluegrass Music Society Incoming President Kevin Slick talks shop
It’s springtime, when March comes in like a banjo and goes out like a mandolin... or something like that. More importantly it’s the season of new growth and changes, and here at the Colorado Bluegrass Music Society we’re growing and changing too.
At our annual board meeting during the Mid-Winter Bluegrass Festival, outgoing President Annie Savage passed the torch on to me, and I will be doing my best to continue the fantastic work she has done over the past few years.
Some changes will be subtle, while others will be obvious. One change will be to the publishing schedule of this magazine. We’re moving to a bi-monthly print schedule due primarily to the high costs of printing and mailing. Our goal is to produce a better quality magazine with more pages and interesting articles.
We’ll be expanding our Web site, emails, Twitter and Facebook presence, so keep your ears and eyes open on all those social media platforms.
As always we would love to hear your comments, ideas and suggestions and you can use the website or the contact information printed here to do just that.
The Round Up Recognition Ceremony at Mid-Winter featured some truly wonderful moments including the induction of new members Sally Van Meter and Ray & Ina Patterson into our Hall of Honor. Seeing those veterans of the Colorado scene made many of us aware of the great history we share and the need to document and preserve that history. We hope to make the Web site not only a go-to place for up to date information on concerts, jams and related events, but also an archive that makes available the story of Colorado Bluegrass for future generations. If you’re not following us on Twitter or Facebook, make sure you’re signed up to receive our email updates. If you prefer the tried and true method of following us on the printed page, that works too. We have a lot of exciting work ahead and quicker than you can say “Old Joe Clark” we’ll all be picking at festivals long into the summer nights. I hope to see you there.
