The Colorado Bluegrass Music Society is an all-volunteer organization promoting bluegrass music - both the listening and playing - of this very special, inclusive, and authentic music. There are many people within the Society that work tirelessly toward that end. We recently honored our newest members into the CBMS Hall of Honor. Thanks to all who attended our first-ever CBMS Round Up. What a great way to end the annual Mid Winter Bluegrass Festival. The 2015 inductees to the Hall of Honor are: John Schmidt, Drew Emmitt, and Dave Higgs. We are in the process of creating a page on our website to include the biographies of all of our honorees.
To advocate for bluegrass music, we have organized a program to introduce bluegrass and folk music in to the schools. Please check out our BEOP (Bluegrass Education Outreach Program). We have some designated funds for the express purpose of taking this show on the road, so if you know of a school or program that would be a good fit, give Annie a shout out.
You will also notice (on the same page) that we are collecting gently used instruments for our John Wood Lending Library. Once collected and catalogued, we will be lending the instruments at no charge for up to three months to individuals interested in giving bluegrass music a try. If you would like to donate an instrument, please fill out the form.
CBMS has an outreach to seniors: providing an opportunity for musicians to gather and play at a retirement home or assisted living facility. Read about this program and join in the fun if you're able.
Suzie Solomon is the contact for this very valuable outreach program.

Also coming up...well, okay these two festivals are still a ways out, but darn it, we have to make choices this year: On the weekend of June 3-5, you'll have to choose between Pueblo and Pagosa. Both festivals happen the same weekend. For tickets to Pueblo; and for tickets to Pagosa.
We have a job for YOU. Do you want to make a little bit of extra money on the side? CBMS is looking for an advertising rep for the monthly Pow'r Pickin' and for the web. There is potential to develop this into a pretty good gig. We really need someone who can give it the attention it deserves. We are right now in the process of selling both Internet ads and print ads for the newsletter. Contact Annie Savage if you are willing to help us out. This is a paid position - commission only at 10 percent of all sales.
Don't forget to check out the acoustic jams around the state here: http://www.coloradobluegrass.org/jams.html If you have a correction, addition, or cancellation, please give Joy Maples the details at email@example.com
Enjoy playing wherever you are.
