Happy October and hello CBMS members and friends,
As the summer, outdoor festival season slows down, the jam season picks up. Make sure to check out our jam schedule. Click on the day of the week that you have free and see what's going on. As always, if you have a jam to share, or one to discontinue, it would be real helpful if you could let Joy Maples know about it so that she can keep our jam schedule up to date.
We have a variety of concerts and shows on our event calendar here: http://www.coloradobluegrass.org/calendar-of-events.html. As a member of CBMS you have the ability to submit an event for publication. Take advantage of it.
Colorado Bluegrass Music Society is still in its top secret planning mode for the Bluegrass at the Audi Series and the Parker SchoolHouse Theater series. We'll let you know just as soon as we have all the acts booked for these popular series. If you are a member band on call, please forward press kits, etc., to Annie Savage. Meanwhile, the Lafayette Bluegrass Series is in full swing. The next concert is Saturday, November 5 and features Dr. Harlan's Amazing Bluegrass Tonic. Details are here:http://www.coloradobluegrass.org/lafayette-bluegrass-series.html.
Remember that in addition to a printed show schedule for all of the Bands on Call for CBMS, we also have an online, up to date calendar available using ReverbNation's widget.
Have you ever wondered how "IT" all began? CBMS that is? And the hoopla that resulted in Planet Bluegrass and all the early days of bluegrass in Colorado? It's a good read. Check it out here: http://www.coloradobluegrass.org/history-of-cbms.html
There are several businesses that offer discounts to CBMS members. Check them out.
It's not too early to reserve your room for the Mid Winter Bluegrass Festival at the Ramada Inn Thornton. It's going to be a great festival as always.
CBMS will host its annual holiday party and fund raising party at the Altona Grange. Festivities begin at Noon on Saturday, Dec. 3 and the party ends at 7:00 pm. There will be a silent auction. Bring an instrument and a dish to share. Of course there will be entertainment, too. Headlining the evening is Ms. Amy - The Jet Set
Enjoy the music: Play some. Listen to some. Teach. Learn.
