Hope you had a fun and festive Fourth of July filled with great food and, of course, plenty of jammin' and live music. It was a beautiful weekend for some, and a little rainy for others.
Coming up this weekend (July 7-10) is High Mountain Hay Fever festival, affectionately known as "Westcliffe" If you would like to go, click on the above link, get your tickets and get going!
And if you don't have plans for tomorrow, Wednesday, the Foghorn String Band will be playing, along with the Savage Hearts, as part of the Lafayette Bluegrass Series. That's Wednesday, July 6, at the FARM School, 102 W. Chester Street in Lafayette, CO. Concert is 6-9 PM. Bring a dish to share and a lawn chair.
Avogadro's Number, located in Fort Collins, is hosting its annual AvoGrass festival, coming up Jul 13-17. It will be a ton of fun. Buy your tickets here:
Pickin' on the Plains has an awesome lineup this year including Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver, Rhonda Vincent and the Rage and others. It's in Colby, Kansas. Make plans to attend.
Of course, July is time for RockyGrass. Both the Academy and the Festival are coming up at the end of July. If you didn't make it in, well, start planning for next year. Look for announcements here in November. If you did get tickets, ENJOY the festival or academy and may your tarp land in the very best spot!
HELP WANTED: Folks, as you know, CBMS is run by an all-volunteer board of directors. These volunteers work to keep the doors open, memberships up and running, a pretty good calendar, a nice website, the monthly and oh-so-popular Pow'r Pickin'. They also run several concert series in the winter, coordinate outreach programs, and sponsor a variety of events throughout the year to promote live bluegrass music, and to connect musicians with other musicians. We appreciate your annual dues and want you to know we're putting it to good use. We believe in the spirit of volunteerism and we want to make sure that we're sucking in...I mean bringing in as many volunteers into the fold as we can. We are currently looking for a volunteer coordinator. Depending on the month, the position requires anywhere from 5-10 hours per month. We will pay the person in this position a stipend of $100 a month. Contact Annie Savage to learn more about this opportunity.
Also, we want to take a moment to welcome Doris Gray back into the fold! Doris is back at it and will be helping, firstly, by taking over the ad sales for both Pow'r Pickin' and the website: www.coloradobluegrass.org If you have questions or want to buy an ad, contact her here: email@example.com
Happy travels during this beautiful Colorado summer. Remember to look for jams here. Our monthly calendar is here.
