COLORADO BLUEGRASS MUSIC SOCIETY (CBMS)
GRANT APPLICATION GUIDELINES

A. Mission Statement of the CBMS: CBMS is dedicated to the promotion
and preservation of bluegrass music. It achieves this through open
communication, activities and education using Society membership, other
individuals, artists, and businesses involved with bluegrass.
B. CBMS grants for the promotion of bluegrass music:
- Grants will be available to individuals, bluegrass bands or to groups that
help CBMS fulfill its mission.
- Grant applications can be submitted any time during the year at the P. O.
Box address of the CBMS Attention Mike Stretchberry.
- Grants should be in the format of the Colorado Common Grant Application. A
copy, customized for the CBMS grant process, is available from CBMS. A
program/project budget sheet must be part of the application.
- The CBMS expects to fund grants in the range of $100 to $500.
- Please consolidate your potential activities into one grant when possible,
rather than submit multiple grants.
- Music tapes, reviews, recommendations, etc. may be submitted with the
grant application. Please keep as brief as possible.
- The CBMS will not support individuals, organizations, or bands that
discriminate on the basis of age, race, sex, color, creed, religion, national
origin, sexual orientation, or disability.
- Applicants must have at least one grant participant that is a member of
the CBMS.
- The CBMS Board of Directors will be solely responsible for the selection
of the grant recipients.
- If awarded a grant, the individual, bluegrass band or group will be
required to sign a contract for fulfillment of the grant.
C. The following are examples of grants the CBMS may support (but are not
limited to):
- School education programs, especially to audiences new to bluegrass music
or to disadvantaged children.
- Bluegrass bands that have a specific, one-time opportunity to advance
themselves and the CBMS.
- Bluegrass bands that may be new and need help getting established.
- Festivals and other entertainment venues that have a unique need such as a
first time festival.
- Workshops.
- Any unique and creative program that will advance the mission of the CBMS.
