Midland Express first played together in the summer of 1999 as Street
Performers in Manitou Springs, Colorado. They specialize in straight
ahead traditional and progressive bluegrass music, gospel and instrumentals,
toe tapping, foot stomping, good time music with a strong steady bluegrass
beat. They met at the Black Rose Acoustic Society.
Sue Coulter, a past president of CBMS, played in several bands including
Fountain Creek, Home Brew, and Bluegrass Buffet before Midland Express.
Jackie Dunevant grew up in Virginia with gospel sings, square dances,
and fiddle contests. Dick Hall and Robert Hovermale played for many
years in several bands before joing Midland Express.
