The two Marks established the core of this band in 1992 with the goal
of providing a "Worry free, out of Bluegrass experience."
Joined in 1995 by jazz/bluegrass fiddler Bruce Lites, the name Fret
Knot was adopted. Current addition is Kevin Yost on mandolin, a man
whose musical experience traverses many genres.
The group plays a mix of old and new bluegrass covers as well as tasteful
originals with a bluegrass flare with sets suited for all occasions
and budgets, specializing in weddings and festivals, and providing music
as a duo to a six piece band. Fret Knot was well received at the Durango
CO Meltdown, 1999, the Capitol Hill People's Fair, '99, '98, '97, and
is often heard around Winter Park.
Quotes from recent gigs: "The variety the band displayed at the
festival sets them apart from the other performers." -- Durango
CO Meltdown "Finger blistering licks...heart rendered vocals...the
women swooned." -- Black Rose Society "You guys were so fun,
here's a bonus." -- Anonymous wedding party "You're the only
group I've seen playing Bluegrass in front of the State Capitol."
-- Peoples Fair
