Through the art of performance, our workshops and assemblies present the musical history and practice of bluegrass and other associated "jamming-based" genres (blues, mariachi, and rock). You can expect a five-piece bluegrass band to perform, teach and then get your students participating musically with their voices and their hands-and their instruments, if they are orchestral students. We will also include information about the life of a performing musician; the discipline it requires to follow your artistic dreams and what it take to do what we do.
Pricing for each of these well-orchestrated and educational programs is $500. Currently, the Colorado Bluegrass Music Society has matching funds available. Contact Annie Savage to schedule a program at your school.
The Bluegrass Educational Outreach Program was created to bring bluegrass music and bluegrass music history into Colorado's schools, public libraries and other educational venues. Because this uniquely American form of music is often left out of "regular" school music curriculum, it is more important than ever that we promote and preserve bluegrass music and pass it on to the next generation through education and performance.
CBMS is looking for used acoustic instruments to be used in its BLUEGRASS EDUCATION AND OUTREACH PROGRAM. Please contact Annie Savage. Instruments must be in good working condition.
CBMS is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation. In exchange for your in-kind donation, you will receive a letter stating the current market value of the instrument for your tax records.
